経歴

英デボン州エクセター出身。バーミンガム大学とロンドンの名門ウェバー・ダグラス・アカデミー・オブ・ドラマチック・アーツで演劇を学ぶ。スペイン映画「Al sur de Granada（原題）」（03）の主演で映画デビュー後、ウッディ・アレン監督作「マッチポイント」（05）を経て「情愛と友情」（08）に主演。「ウォッチメン」「シングルマン」（ともに09）や「イノセント・ガーデン」（13）、「イミテーション・ゲーム エニグマと天才数学者の秘密」（14）など、英米の映画で活躍する。人気TVシリーズ「グッド・ワイフ」のフィン・ポルマー役や「ダウントン・アビー」のヘンリー・タルボット役（ともに14〜15）で人気を博し、「ザ・クラウン」（16〜）ではエミー賞ドラマシリーズ部門最優秀ゲスト男優賞にノミネートされた。以降の出演作に「マリアンヌ」（16）、「オフィシャル・シークレット」（19）、「キングスマン ファースト・エージェント」（20）など。
